Surface Roughness - Calculates feedrate for surface roughness on turning


This is a macro plugin for GibbsCAM that will calculate feedrate to achieve a theoretical surface roughness with a given tooltip radius.
It will calculate and convert between Ra µmeters, Ra µinches, RMS and ISO N roughness grades (ISO 1302).
The 'Get From Op' button will read information from a selected turn roughing or contour operation (tooltip radius and feedrate) and calculate the surface roughness.

ToolTip Radius are the dominant input, change Target Ra and it will calculate new feedrate with the current tooltip radius.
Change feedrate and it will calculate new surface roughness with the current set tooltip radius.
Change ToolTip Radius and it will calculate new feedrate for the current set Target Ra.

For milling with a ball mill, set ToolTip Radius for the mill and the calculated feedrate are the required stepover distance to get the required surface roughness.

Two tabs provides calculations in metric and inches independently.

ISO Tolerator is a GibbsCAM macro plugin that makes it very quick to lookup standard tolerance classes and limit deviations for holes and shafts.

  • Contains tolerances for dimensions from 0 - 3150 mm and over 7200 seperate tolerance deviations.
  • Displays the limit deviations and calculates the limit deviations into the set nominal.
  • Remembers the last nominal and tolerance used.
  • Tabbed interface to quickly switch between hole and shaft tolerance.

    OpTime - Calculates cycle time for all or selected operations.

    OpTime is a GibbsCAM macro plugin that calculates cycle times of a GibbsCAM program.
    Useful for reviewing a program to get an idea of cycle times, and on what operations could use some optimizing.

    OpTime includes cycle time for all feed moves, rapid moves and tool changes. Rapid feed rate and tool change times can be configured to match your machine.
    Supports metric and imperial setups.

    To change/edit the seconds to match your machine, you need to open the OpTime.mac file in Notepad.exe and set the seconds.
